Skill Level: Intermediate: must have taken 1 Belger class, or equivalent experience
Location: 2011 Tracy Ave

Learn how to make traditional (and not so traditional) handmade brushes out of plant material, both purchased and foraged (you're welcome to bring your own.) We will use our newly created brushes to explore various mark making techniques using slips, oxide washes, and glaze. This is a 2 part class, part one is from 1pm-4pm Saturday, March 1st and part 2 is 1pm-4pm on Saturday, March 8th. This allows for participants to take what they’ve learned in part 1 and use that to evaluate and find new materials for brushes to make in part 2. Everyone is welcome to bring in their own pieces for decorating and experimenting in either or both parts! Please note that this intensive includes one firing opportunity between parts one and two, any work created in part two is the responsibility of the individual for firing.

Included with the class:
- Clay slabs in both leather hard and bisque
- premade cups in leather hard and bisque stages
- basic brush making materials (corn straw, dried grass, binding cord, tape, and other various materials)
- paper and ink for testing brushes in class
- oxide washes, slip, and glaze for experimentation
- one bisque firing between parts 1 & 2
