Kiln Firings

If you’re looking for a way to fire ceramic work made outside our studio, we do allow walk-ins!

There are two firing methods: use the flowchart below to determine which option best suits your needs:

Community Firings

Any work being processed through Studio Firings will be loaded and unloaded in accordance with BCYS kiln scheduling; there is no guaranteed timeline of completion.

Please note that firing as a Walk-In customer does not include use of our studio glazes.

BISQUE: Cone 04

GLAZE: Cone 6 Oxidation & 10 Reduction

Rate:

Regular/Walk-In: $0.05 per Cubic Inch

*Measurement calculation and payment happens in person, at time of drop-off. Ask for the Yellow Apron person (the Ceramics Studio staff member currently on duty).

Private (electric) Kiln Rental

Ideal for anyone that requires a specific date of completion; this is the option to ensure personal deadlines are met.

Please note that on average, all kilns are booked about two weeks out.

-Kiln Renters will be taught our requirements for proper stacking during loading, how to program/start the computer, and proper unloading protocol within their pre-approved, scheduled time slots. No prior experience required!

*Firing as a Walk-In customer does not include use of our studio glazes or equipment. 

-Rescheduling (adjusting or canceling) of a reservation can not interfere with other firings already scheduled.

-In-person scheduling still requires approval by a Ceramic Studio Staff Member (ask for the Yellow Apron person).

Kiln loading & unloading hours for Walk-Ins:
Tuesday-Friday: 10am to 4:30pm
Saturday: 10am to 3:30pm
