Intermediate Throwing: Tableware Part 3 - Plates, Platters, and More

Skill Level: Intermediate (must have taken 2-3 throwing classes or equivalent experience)
This course is part one in a three course series that focuses on making a variety of table wares.
Plates and platters are seemingly easy to make, but if you have ever attempted to make one,
you know how challenging it can be. In this session we will focus on refining technique and
making a variety of flatware- and learn to make it well! We will survey what it means to make
quality flatware and find solutions to do so. From there, we will expand on our methods to make
other specialty items that involve the plate and platter.
**Requirements: 2-3 throwing classes or equivalent experience is required to take this class.
The individual must be capable of wedging, centering clay, and pulling walls without assistance.
**You are not required to sign up for all three classes in the tableware series to attend this
course.
Week 1 (3/5): Introductions, discussion. Demo: Plates
Week 2 (3/12): Demo: Platters
Week 3 (3/19): Demo: Cake stand / compote vessel
Week 4 (3/26): Demo: Glazing and requests
Included with class:
-15 lbs cone 6 clay
-firings of all work made during the course
-outside of class studio access with the following schedule:
Mon-Thur 8:30am-9pm, Fri 8:30am-5pm, Sat & Sun 10am-4pm
