Handbuilding Level Two
In this second level beginner class you will continue to learn new handbuilding techniques, including carving, hard slab construction, solid building, hollowing, and sculpting. In addition, you will learn how to use wire, the spray booths, and how to create test tiles to deepen your creative skills.
Skill Level: Two (Beginner-Intermediate)
Requirements: Having completed Introduction to Handbuilding or similar experience
In this second level beginner class you will continue to learn new handbuilding techniques, including carving, hard slab construction, solid building, hollowing, and sculpting. In addition, you will learn how to use wire, the spray booths, and how to create test tiles to deepen your creative skills.
Week 1:
Demonstrations: Extruders, slab roller, and forming clay for carving.
Projects: Rolling slabs, small carved vessel, maquette.
Week 2:
Demonstration: Sculptural forms, lidded box, carving, test tiles.
Projects: Lidded box, solid sculptural form, test tiles, and finishing carved vessel.
Week 3:
Demonstration: Detailing, hollowing out solid forms, using wire, spraying glaze.
Focus: Finishing sculptural form, detailing, and finishing.
Week 4:
Focus: Test tiles results and finishing projects.
Focus: Finishing up!

15 lbs cone 6 clay

Studio access outside of class time during the following hours:
Monday-Thursday 8:30AM-9:00PM, Friday 8:30AM-5:00PM, Saturday & Sunday 10:00AM-4:00PM
