4-Week Class, Intermediate Levels Welcome!

Skill Level: Intermediate: must have taken 1 Belger class, or equivalent experience
Location: 2011 Tracy Ave
Learn how to use various colorants with your ceramics! From coloring clay bodies to painting over glaze, we will cover the use of various materials (oxides, stains, and natural pigments) in all stages of clay to develop surfaces ranging from boldly minimal to richly layered.
Week 1: Learn about the various options for colorants and use them to make some colored clay and slips.
Week 2: Learn how to make color washes and add colorants to glazes. We will create test tiles and learn how to do line blends for testing combinations and work on (provided) slabs to try out application techniques.
Week 3: Further experiment with ways of applying slips, washes, and glazes for various effects and using oxides over glazes after reviewing test pieces from before. This week you should have Your own pieces to decorate in various stages (leather hard, greenware, and bisque.)
Week 4: Applying final treatments to pieces and reviewing results from experiments and firings.
This class comes with:
15lbs clay
-Bisque and Glaze firings for all work created during the 4 weeks of the class
*there is an additional $10 fee included in the price to cover the cost of all the stains and oxides we will provide
Outside of class Studio access with the following schedule:
Monday- Thursday: 8:30am - 9pm
Friday: 8:30am - 5pm
Saturday & Sunday: 10am - 4pm
