Building a Hollow Form Bust
4-Week Class, All Levels Welcome!
Tuesdays, 10am - 1pm
February 4-25 w/ Hannah Schelb
Location: 2011 Tracy Ave
Skill Level: Beginner (some handbuilding experience preferred, but not required)
In this class participants learn to build a self portrait bust that reveals something about the self that isn’t easily seen. We start off with working as a group to think of concepts and how to take pictures for reference and then work though building a hollow bust about ½ size of life size portraits.
Week 1: Building the shoulders and neck of bust
Week 2: Building the head shape and features
Week 3 : Dry work- group think on glazes and surface finishes
Week 4: Glazing busts
Included with class:
-15 lbs cone 6 clay
-firings of all work made during the course
-outside of class studio access with the following schedule:
Mon-Thur 8:30am-9pm, Fri 8:30am-5pm, Sat & Sun 10am-4pm
You will need to bring:
Basic set of pottery tools (needle tool, sponge, rubber or metal rib,) a serrated rib, and small sculpture tools. If you don’t already have some, a link to the recommended items will be sent along with the class info email after signup.
