Description:
This four-week class will introduce plaster as a material for use in making molds to cast objects. We will focus on creating a simple one- or two-part mold with precision and functionality in mind. Casting slip will be introduced in the final week to create objects.
Schedule:
Each student will bring in 3 items under 12 x 12 x 12 inches. Avoid heavy textures, appendages, fragile, or cherished items.
Week 1: Demo Slip casting and the making of a mold. We will then go over everyones objects.
Week 2: Start making molds. I will support one on one periodically throughout the class.
Week 3: Continue Casting Mold Components.
Week 4: Slip Cast for the first time. Anyone not in the casting stage will continue finishing up their molds.
*cast objects will be fired & picked up later

-plaster & slip
-firings of all work made during the course
-outside of class studio access with the following schedule:
Mon-Thur 8:30am-9pm, Fri 8:30am-5pm, Sat & Sun 10am-4pm
