4-Week Class (Level Two)
Beginner-Intermediate Levels Welcome (some experience required)
Tuesdays, May 6-27, 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. with Logan Reynolds
Skill Level 2: Beginner-Intermediate some experience required
Requirements: Having completed Introduction to Handbuilding or similar experience
Location: 2011 Tracy Ave
In this level 2 course you will continue learning new handbuilding techniques, including carving, hard slab construction, solid building, hollowing, and sculpting techniques. You’ll also learn how to use the wire, spray booths, and create test tiles to move you forward on your path in handbuilding.
Week 1:
Demonstrations: Extruders, Slab Roller, and Forming clay for carving
Projects: Rolling slabs, small carved vessel, maquette
Week 2:
Demonstration: Sculptural forms, Lidded box, Carving, Test tiles
Projects: Lidded box, Solid sculptural form, Test Tiles, and Finishing carved vessel
Week 3:
Demonstration: Detailing, Hollowing out solid forms, Using wire, Spraying glaze
Focus: Finishing sculptural form, Detailing, and Finishing
Week 4:
Focus: Test tiles results and finishing projects
Focus: Finishing up!
Included with class:
-15 lbs cone 6 clay
-firings of all work made during the course
-outside of class studio access within the following hours:
Mon-Thur 8:30am-9pm, Fri 8:30am-5pm, Sat & Sun 10am-4pm
