Join local artist Hadley Clark for an immersive two part Weekend Intensive where you will create your own handcrafted ceramic buttons and learn how to sew them onto a garment or soft object.
In the first session, we will craft our ceramic buttons under the guidance of Hadley Clark. She will help you navigate the various stages of the process, allowing you to shape your buttons and apply texture, patterns, and design. Hadley's practice involves pressing remnants from the natural world into wet clay, and she will guide students through this process. Participants are encouraged to bring small objects they would like to impress into their buttons. The following week participants will learn how to sew their new ceramic buttons onto garments (or soft objects) of their own, giving them a fresh start in our wardrobes. Throughout this process, you will acquire practical sewing skills and engage in thoughtful conversations about circular fashion, care, and conscious consumption.
Included with class:
ceramic and sewing supplies will be provided, including needles and thread for our session two
glazing and firing of work
You will need to bring:
Small objects for making impressions onto buttons (session one)
Any specific colored thread you would like to use (session two)
Garment of soft object to apply buttons to (session two)
