Artist statement
My current body of work is an attempt to bridge the gap between Illustration and Pottery to function as an expression of myself. I enjoy slowing down and observing the world around me to gain inspiration for my work. Ever since college I’ve been trained to work daily in a sketchbook to strengthen and stretch my creativity and craft. Lately however, I find myself putting down my pen and paper and more often reaching for clay. As a result this series of mugs has become that daily ritual, in essence becoming my Sketchbook. Each mug represents a small moment in my life that I have observed and etched down. Little moments often get overlooked in our lives and I want to encourage people to slow down, observe, and celebrate the little things that make up our lives.
