Paul Mallory

Bio:

I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in ceramics from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville Mo in 1989. After graduation, I moved to Kansas City and have worked from several different studios over the years.

Artist Statement:

From as early as I can remember I knew I would have to organize some part of my life around making art. I have never made a living from my art but I cannot think of living without art. I always thought I would become a painter because the first artists that I loved as a youngster were Leonardo da Vinci and Vincent Van Gogh. All that changed when I took my first ceramics class in college. Clay was my thing and I have never looked back.

My goal as an artist is to make ceramic objects that are useful, pleasing, and inviting. Ceramic objects that are used everyday in people's lives become touchstones of beauty and add to the quality of everyday life. I like being part of that.
