Skill Level: Beginner (some handbuilding experience preferred)

In this class we will be looking at teapots in sculptural ways. Starting with a basic form provided, we will focus on hand building techniques for feet, spouts and handles to make a teapot into a functional or non-functional art piece.
Learn how to make handles, lids, and feet, as well as how to alter your form and attach everything together.
This is a Two Part Intensive, running from 10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm on Saturday, March 29th.
Part One: Demos and discussions about teapots as functional and sculptural forms, students will select their form
Part Two: Students will work to create their own unique teapot with Hannah there to help and offer suggestions
Included with the class:
- wheel thrown teapot body
- 5lbs of clay
- bisque firing of completed teapot
While the studio has tools available for use, it is suggested you bring your own if possible. Suggested: Serrated rib, small sculpture tools, and your typical pottery tool kit- needle tool, sponge, rubber or metal rib.
