Bede Clarke has been a Professor of Art at the University of Missouri since 1992.  He received his Master of Fine Arts from The University of Iowa (1990) and a BFA from Eckerd College (1982).  Bede’s work is found in collections in the U.S. and abroad, such as the: University of Northern Arizona, Ichon World Ceramic Center, Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art, Racine Art Museum, South Bend Museum of Art and the Martin Museum of Art.

Bede maintains a studio in Columbia, Missouri where he continues to explore work both in earthenware and wood fired ceramics.  Recent exhibitions include:  Jacksonville Museum of, Contemporary Art, Snite Museum of Art, Otterbein University, Daum Museum of Contemporary Art, Northern Clay Center, Schaller Gallery and TRAX Gallery.

He is a recipient of Kansas City Artist Coalition’s, Lighton International Artist Exchange Award (2007); Sturt Australian Contemporary Craft Center Residency Award (2007); Fletcher Challenge Ceramic Award, (1996); and Kennedy Center Fellowship for Teachers of the Arts (1987).
