Amy Troester

bio

Amy Troester graduated from Hastings College in central Nebraska in 2009 with a degree in studio art. Shortly after, she moved to Kansas City where she found the KC Clay Guild and continued her studio practice there for years. In 2023, she began working at the Guild as Education Coordinator, and now Program Manager. When she isn't making things out of clay or facilitating clay classes, you can find her in her garden, hiking at Shawnee Mission Park or planning a trip to Italy so she can replace her Stonehenge headshot.

Her work is primarily inspired by the designs and decor of the mid century. Right now, she is specifically interested in the bright colors and tropical designs of Palm Springs. While she has primarily been a production potter for most of her career, her goal for 2027 is to begin handbuilding more, giving her the opportunity to slow down and create forms she's always admired, but didn't have the time to create.
