Learn how to transform sheet glass into a set of 2 dinner plates and 2 bread plates in this introduction to glass fusing and slumping.
We will cover the basics of cutting glass, prepping and loading a glass kiln, and using a slump mold.
Bring your design ideas to life as your instructor teaches you various glass patterning techniques such as layering sheet glass, bending stringers, and drawing with frit.
Come learn a new skill or revisit an old hobby with this fun hands-on class.
Included with class:
- Enough clear sheet glass to create 2 dinner plates and 2 bread plates
- A selection of colorful glass for decorating
- Firings of all work made during the class
- Tool kit rental for you to keep creating at home. Projects made outside of class time can be included in the class firings.
You will need to bring:
- Your creativity!
- Any personal fusible glass colors you want to use for your design. (The Belger Glass Annex uses 96COE glass.)
- Any personal glass cutting tools you like to use. Each student will be given a tool kit to use throughout the duration of the class.
- Safety glasses are required. You are welcome to bring your own, but we also have plenty available. Prescription lens qualify as safety glasses.
