Jesse Hinson

Bio

Jesse Hinson is a printmaker, ceramicist, and craftsperson currently residing in Tucson, AZ. Originally from Cleveland, NC, she is interested in exploring the history of southern domestic craft and the ways it has been used to shape the south socially and politically. When not in the studio, you can find her vacuuming dog hair and eating chicken wings.

Artist Statement

As an interdisciplinary artist with a strong background in print and other 2D media, I am interested in exploring different ways to explore surface decoration on functional, wheel thrown pieces. Both pieces are a part of ongoing experiments into texture and graphic imagery. Through the use of vinyl stencils, overglaze decals, slips, and colorants, I am looking for simple but versatile methods to more effectively combine my print and ceramic work.
