I was born and raised in rural North Alabama, in a small farming community in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. My family was (and continues to be) very spiritual , and my very happy childhood playing in those woods and creeks and attending several of the local summer church camps dramatically shaped the type of artwork I make today.
In 2001, my younger brother passed away in an automobile accident when he was 19 (I was 23 at the time, and in college). Since having my son, I have been interested in how the imagery of puberty (skulls, science fiction, dinosaurs) connects my son to the uncle he never got to know.
