2 Day Weekend Intensive
Level 1 introductory course - All levels welcome
Saturday, June 7 10:30am-5:30pm (w/ one hour for lunch) & Sunday, June 8 10:30am-1:30pm
In this intensive, Adams Puryear will share ideas and various techniques for creating handbuilt Mugs. Throughout history vessels with handles have been used as objects to drink and eat out of and this format will be explored with demonstrations as well as historical and contemporary examples. Saturday is focused on making a mug and refining or adding surface treatments. This will include pinching and coiling processes, slab and pulled handles, and adding texture with tools and stamps. Sunday will survey various methods of underglaze and slip applications with an overview of design and composition strategies. Work will be clear glazed and fired by staff.
This is a great workshop for beginning handbuilders and for understanding the vast amount of possibilities that underglaze provides using the mug as a 3D canvas.
