Introduction to Working with Plaster

March Mondays 2-16 and 30 (no class 3/23) - 6:00PM-9:00PM with Sara Alfieri

Skill Level: Two - Beginner-Intermediate (basic knowledge of ceramics helpful) 

Requirements: At least one ceramics class and ability to work with clay, preferably handbuilding techniques

In this introductory class we will cover the basics of working with plaster to make utility items (damp boxes and plaster slabs), how to make simple one part molds from found and constructed objects for use with handbuilding as hump and/or slump molds, and how to make a two-part press mold. This class does not cover slipcasting, this is covered in Introduction to Two-Part Molds and Slipcasting class.
