Come join us for a fun afternoon of firing outdoors with Raku! We have two upcoming dates this fall. Space is limited for each firing so register ahead to make sure you have a spot!
Raku is a dramatic pottery firing technique in which glowing-hot ceramic pieces are removed from the kiln and transformed by flame, smoke, and rapid cooling, resulting in unique finishes. This event is ideal for pottery enthusiasts, curious beginners, or anyone seeking a distinctive experience.
All ages welcome, no experience required.
You can bring your own pre-bisqued pieces* or purchase a piece made by our staff and residents which are ready to decorate. Bring some food to share, and come hang out as we fire the pots, watch us pull them from the kiln while they’re red hot, enjoy the drama and excitement of the reduction flames, and walk away with a truly unique memento (or three). We will have a selection of raku glazes for you to choose from and will provide brushes. Bring your own beverages, but no alcohol at this event, please. The event is free to attend, but firing requires payment and registration.
