Bio

I am a self-taught potter who has been making functional pottery for over 45 years. My career started as the resident potter at Batsto State Park in southern New Jersey .Using a kick wheel, sourcing locally dug stoneware clays, and building kilns while interpreting the craft to thousands of visitors annually.

Overlapping these activities, I also developed over 50 functional forms initially with porcelain and later stoneware for the wholesale gallery market. I’ve had my work in over 75 shops and galleries throughout the United States.

I am drawn to functional pottery for its rich history and intimate collaboration with daily use. I love clay’s opaque beauty, how it feels in your hand, and all the things it can stage and hold.
