Brimming: Goblet invitational

July 12 - October 5, 2024

at Belger Crane Yard Studios
2011 Tracy Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64108

The goblet or chalice has a long history filled with mysticism, power, and ritual. At its core, a goblet is defined as a footed vessel intended to hold drink. However, the common understanding of what a goblet is expands beyond its function to its inherent symbolism relating to ceremony and opulence.

This exhibition is open to contemporary, traditional, and personal interpretations of what a goblet is and what a goblet represents. Whether it is the most pristine representation of the form, or the most out-of-the-box design, artists are invited to bring their personal styles to the table.

Purchase Awards totaling up to $2,500 will be offered.

We hope artists feel inspired and excited by this opportunity to possibly push their craft and play with the goblet form, and we understand that for many artists this might be a new form to explore. Therefore, we are not requiring an image of the final work as part of the submission requirements. However, any images that are provided will be considered for inclusion in promotional materials.

Requirements:

  • Artists must reside in the U.S.

  • Each artist may submit one goblet.

  • Size should not exceed 24 inches in any direction.

  • Weight should not exceed 50 pounds.

  • This exhibition will be viewed by a broad audience. We ask that the work be family friendly.
