Logan Reynolds

Logan Reynolds received his BFA from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2017 and his MFA in Ceramics from Ohio University in 2023. He has participated in numerous residencies, including Project Network at Guldagergaard International Ceramic Research Center in Skælskør, Denmark and Belger Crane Yard Studios in Kansas City, where he maintains active studio and teaching practices.

Artist statement

I work in ceramics to fabricate familiar material objects that are performative of a collective middle-class American memory. These consist of distorted yet representational sculptures — cartoonish echoes of objects and narratives. Animated cartoons teach a hierarchical distinction between that which is moving or about to move, and that which is static, unchanging, background. In the real world, I feel there is a sense of sovereignty and potential energy embedded in inanimate things that is contrary to the assumption that they are simply inconsequential props. Humanness emerges from a tactile, material connection to objects.
