Lizzie Ingram

Bio

Lizzie Ingram is a ceramicist and illustrator using the vessel to explore illustrative and narrative surfaces. Along with the vessel, Lizzie brings characters to life through figurative sculpture. Painted, printed, or sculpted, these ethereal, otherworldly figures and creatures are grounded in melancholic nostalgia and appreciation for the natural world. With intricate surface design and joyful mythical forms, Lizzie wishes to remind viewers of the magnificence of nature, memory, and relationship.

Lizzie Ingram is originally from Saint Louis and is a recent graduate from the Kansas City Art Institute. In her department, Lizzie has received the 2025 Mentorship Award, the 2023 KCAI President's Scholarship, and the 2024 McKeown Special Project Award, where she traveled back to her hometown to demo underglaze monoprinting to high schoolers. Lizzie looks forward to supporting her community, demoing in workshop settings, and teaching young, growing artists.

Artist Statement

Revolution is fertile, joy, and hope are uncrushable acts of resistance against a bitter world. My bright realms of ceramic vessels and sculptures are opportunities for personal escapism and exploration. The products reflect narratives and characters grounded in my own tales of relationships, childhood, individual growth, and nature, revealing deep love for the natural world and its inhabitants. The vibrant mythological creatures and ethereal female figures I craft display scenes of tender love, playfulness, and aggressive revenge; reflecting complex dynamics of affectionate care and proud protection. The colorful forms my characters live on are objects that serve a purpose: to hold, hide, and preserve. Just as figural and vessel forms protect, I aim to safeguard memory and the people and environments behind it.

Love holds magnificent weight and memory is rich with hope. The investment in nature and immortalizing memory are vital acts of power in a crippling field of hopelessness, and I will continue to use joy, play, and preservation resiliently against despair.
