Saturday, March 21 - 11:00AM - 2:00PM
Skill Level: Level One (Beginner)
Requirements: No experience required
In honor of National Quilting Day on March 21, we’re offering a fiber-focused workshop with Hadley Clark. The workshop is open to all skill levels and perfect for anyone interested in exploring quilting and natural dyeing techniques to create a custom handmade sachet.
The word sachet carries many meanings—a sewn bag filled with lavender for your drawer, a tied cheesecloth bundle of spices for soup, or a packet of tea. It’s a small package for transporting something—a scent or a flavor—from one place to another.
In the workshop, you will:
Learn about the materials and concepts of sachet making.
Hand-stitch with needle and thread using natural dye materials from Hadley’s garden—marigold, dyer’s chamomile, coreopsis, sulphur cosmos, yarrow flowers, osage, and logwood.
Experiment with warm water to see how it transforms the stuffed fillings and brings color to the sachet materials.
Stitch your sachets to create a thoughtful, intentional small bag for dreams and memories.
All supplies are provided.
Hadley Clark is a participating artist in Second Skin: Exploring Adornment as an Extension of Self, currently on view at the Belger Crane Yard Gallery through May 2, 2026.
