Artist Statement

I create sculpture, installations and mixed media artworks dealing with the ideas of memory and place. I use glass as the primary material in my artworks due to the inherent luminosity and translucency of the material and my desire to reveal a deeper sense of our place in history. My sculptures are characterized by the use of everyday objects in which recognition plays a role. These items are important not because of their intended function, but more for the memories and identity connected to them. My representations of objects common to past generations connect the American audience to a time of less fragmentation, a time of common ideals. While these ideals have evolved, my work highlights the sense of commonality and hopefully brings individuals fond thoughts of their own identity tied together in the representative objects, forms, colors and patterns in my work.
