Alisha Sackett

Bio

Alisha is an amateur potter whose hands have recently found a new rhythm in clay, shaping vessels that echo the stories she’s long told through words. A professional writer with published work in magazines and newspapers, Alisha has spent years weaving narratives that explore the human experience. She is currently working on two novels and a poetry collection, each steeped in emotional depth and lyrical insight.

After 14 years in Kansas City, Alisha has grown deeply connected to the city’s vibrant art culture. Though new to ceramics, she approaches the craft with the same curiosity and reverence she brings to her writing: honoring transformation, celebrating imperfection, and finding beauty in the process.

This exhibition marks a new chapter in Alisha’s artistic journey—where storytelling meets sculpting, and words give way to form.

Artist Statement

I approach pottery with curiosity and play. Each piece begins with a question: what do you want to be? I let the clay guide me, responding to its shape and feel rather than imposing a fixed idea. This process keeps my work spontaneous and reflects the whimsical side of my creativity.

Lately, I’ve been exploring the forms and functions of teapots, Yixing tea sets, and incense holders. These objects invite ritual and quiet attention, and I enjoy experimenting with their structure and personality. My work is about listening to the material and to the moment and letting that dialogue shape what emerges.
