Wanda Tyner

Bio

Wanda’s nature-inspired glass artwork depicts a story that flows from realistic representations to abstract interpretations including 3D elements that add depth, action and cool reflections.  Wanda manipulates and forms glass into shapes with heat, flow, dimension, patterns and texture bringing vibrant colors to life.  She enjoys bringing works of creativity, color and beauty into our everyday lives.

Wanda applies the same creativity and innovative solutions to her glass creations as she did during her career as a technology executive.  Wanda’s journey as a glass artist started with a desire to understand how the glass art in her home collection was made.  After an extensive introduction, she was fascinated with the science of glass, the technology and skill required to achieve endless creative possibilities.  Wanda continued her training with many well-known glass artists from around the world.  She spends extensive time studying, experimenting and creating.

In addition to fine art sculptures and wall hangings, Wanda creates vases, bowls, tableware, music related art, garden art, clocks and jewelry.  Wanda showcases her glass art in Galleries, Juried Art Shows, Art Fairs and retail stores. Wanda’s work has won awards at exhibitions and art fairs and is included in several international collections.  She resides and kayaks at Raintree Lake in Lee’s Summit, Missouri with her husband.

Wanda is a juried member of Images Art Gallery, Summit Art Organization and Missouri Artisans Association D.B.A. Best of Missouri Hands.  She is an artist member of Kansas City Artists Coalition and Columbia Art League.

Wanda is currently serving on the Board of Directors for Summit Art Organization and Best of Missouri Hands.

Artist Statement

I manipulate and form glass into shapes with heat, flow, dimension, patterns and texture bringing vibrant colors to life.  My nature-inspired glass artwork depicts a story that flows from realistic representations to abstract interpretations with creative 3D elements.

I am fascinated with the scientific properties of glass and the technical programming required to achieve various results in glass art.  I enjoy the focus and precision it takes to design and explore colors, patterns, textures, shapes and techniques to create kilnfired, kilncasted and kilnformed glass art that can be bright, bold, subtle, or textured.  I enjoy the challenge and energy of manipulating glass inside a very hot kiln.

In addition to fine art 3D wall hangings and sculptures; I create vessels, bowls, vases, tableware, music related art, garden art, clocks and jewelry.
