If April showers bring May flowers, then we need to make sure we have pots and planters ready for all of them! Using the pottery wheel and/or handbuilding techniques, we will create unique vase and planter forms: everything from perfectly sized planters to wall pockets for display. Greenware techniques like carving and texturing will be our main form of decoration for the objects, emphasizing each individual form.

Course Outline:
• Week 1 – Wheel Demo | Work Day
• Week 2 – Hand Built Demo | Work Day
• Week 3 – Surface Decoration | Work Day
• Week 4 – Work Day | Reflection

The Lab Fees will supply a starter kit of:
- 25 lbs of Cone 5 stoneware clay
- Bisque and Glaze firings for all work created during the 4-week class
- Outside of class Studio access with the following schedule:
Monday- Thursday: 8:30am - 9pm
Friday: 8:30am - 5pm
Saturday: 10am - 4pm
Sunday: 11am - 5pm

For the first day of class, you will want to bring:
- Basic tools (needle tool, metal and wooden knife, metal and rubber ribs, serrated metal rib, sponge, wire tool, trimming tools)
- Small Cheap Paintbrush
- Scoring Tool (can use serrated metal rib)
- We suggest wearing or bringing clothes that don't mind getting dirty. We have comfortable places to change here.
- An apron of your own if you have one
- Notebook/sketchbook
- Pencil/pen
Optional Materials:
- X-acto Knife
- Sgraffito/Carving Tools
